Police will be conducting a "traffic slowdown'' at dawn Wednesday in the township to hand out fliers to motorists and pedestrians in an effort to collect more information about a hit-and-run collision that critically injured a township man last Thursday. Police are making a renewed effort to find the red minivan believed involved in the hit-and-run which injured Viscius Alfredas, 54, of East Kennedy Boulevard in Lakewood about 6:30 a.m. last Thursday. For several days Alfredas was unidentified because he lacked official identification documents of any kind. Alfredas remained in the surgical intensive care unit today at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he was taken after he was struck.Patrolman Robert R. Redington said there will be multiple officers assigned to specifically distribute information about the red minivan in an attempt to get help in finding the vehicle. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Redington in the traffic safety bureau at (732) 363-0200, ext. 5385.
